How To Organise A Memorable Mixed Gender Pre-Wedding Party

A team of people with helmets posing for a photo. It’s traditional to have a pre-wedding get together with separate events for the guys and gals, but these days mixed-gender celebrations are becoming more popular. It’s totally normal to have mixed friendship groups, and many couples want a stag or hen do, or ‘sten do’ that allows them to include all of their mates, regardless of gender.

However, this throws up the question of how to arrange the occasion and ensure that it is memorable, fun and inclusive. Hoary old traditions of getting totally legless and locked out of a hotel room, or making ‘amusing’ catering arrangements with various fruits and vegetables seem a little dated in this day and age.

Here are some fun activities fit for the 21st century that will be sure to provide a celebration to remember for all the right reasons.

Choose the destination

The UK’s vibrant cities such as Bristol are perennially popular destinations for big days out or weekends. They combine close access to the countryside for outdoor activities such as quad biking or go karting, and a lively nightlife scene to let loose later on. It’s not even far from the beach if that’s your scene!

This leaves plenty of options open for you to plan a full day, or even a weekend of events that has something for everyone in the group.

Choose an activity

There are dozens of possibilities when it comes to choosing what to actually do on your sten do. Consider the age, interests and personality of the bride or groom to be: after all, you are arranging for them. However, no doubt they will want all their mates to enjoy themselves just as much as they do.

Exhilarating ideas include go karting or quad biking: these are perfect for adventure-hungry groups who enjoy a bit of banter and friendly competition. If you are concerned that some members of your group would find these activities a bit too fast and furious, don’t worry: friendly instructors will be on hand to help and guide you through the whole process.

It’s a great way to let off steam and will provide you with some perfect photo opportunities for your wedding album to look back on.

If you are looking for something a little more laid back but still want the buzz and bonding experience of learning a new skill together, clay pigeon shooting might be more of your vibe. You can turn it into a friendly competition, or maybe just be happy to settle for a few shots on target!

Choose a theme

A theme is obviously optional and a matter of personal preference, but it can add an extra element of fun and interest to your celebration. Maybe you want to create some custom T shirts, hats, or hoodies with a funny slogan or in-joke to make it memorable and have amusing keepsakes for later on.
